CEA-List will be present at the 31st IEEE International Conference on Robot & Human Interactive Communication (Ro-Man).
Ro-Man will take place in Naples from August 29 to September 2 and is one of the leading conferences for human and robots interaction. Robots are getting smarter and smarter to interact with the environment. However, versatility in grasping is difficult to achieve. Human-like hands are versatile, but they prove to be complex to design and control, and they remain in practice limited to date to laboratory experiments. On the other hand, industrial under-actuated grippers, like bi-digital grippers, suffer a lack of versatility.
Our institute will present its latest developments on how to achieve this compromise by introducing an innovative human-centered manual interaction patterns analysis methodology. We will show on different use-cases how it can be used to orient a robotic gripper design. This work is a part of the Merging Project.
